About The School

Brookwood Middle School Is Alive and Well!

At the end of 2006-2007, Brookwood Middle School completed its fifth year of infancy as a new middle school in the Tuscaloosa County School System. As our school approaches the 2007-2008 school year, BMS will still rank as the second largest of the seven middle schools in the district. BMS houses grades 6-8 and consists of a faculty and staff of 46 certified personnel and twenty-one classified employees. The school's population averages around 750 students. Geographically, it is located on the eastern end of the county, adjacent to Mercedes-Benz US International. It is centrally located in a rural area south of Jefferson County, west of Bibb County, and just north of the Tuscaloosa City School System. The school is constructed on 25 of 40-50 acres, and the building covers 110,000 square feet. The state of the art construction features separate sixth, seventh and eighth grade wings, an elective wing, a spacious gymnasium with an upstairs weight room, a commons area and media center, a beautiful courtyard, and a huge cafetorium with a large staging area. The school is equipped with a sophisticated security camera sytem for greater safety and security.  The school is also equipped with a helpful school messenger which provides greater communication to family and friends.  In other words, BMS has a lot to offer all students; it is a hidden treasure set against a pituresque view of nature with lots of potential for growth and lots to offer the community.

The school's mission is to celebrate individualism and to collaboratively build a global community of life-long learners. The administration, faculty and staff are committed to that end and are among the most diversified, talented, creative and dedicated individuals who believe in providing quality education to all students. Our school offers a strong academic program and a wide variety of extracurricular programs. The school cultivates a warm, caring, and friendly environment where all students are allowed the chance to experience and explore their full potential. It is our further desire to be convenient and relevant to the community. We encourage community support and volunteerism, and it is our desire to reach out to the community, to build a working relationship with those we serve, to foster a learning environment, and to create an atmosphere of welcome.
